“Mike, a five year old, and his mother were out for the day doing errands. One of these errands was to stop at the Chiropractor for their appointment.

Mike was adjusted first and remained in the room while his mother was adjusted. He overheard the doctor say that his mother's back was doing nicely and she wouldn't have to come back for a few months. The doctor started to walk out of the room when Mike suddenly ran up to him and asked "So mommies back is better? - Then, can you help being to old to play?"

The doctor was surprised and confused by what Mike had said and tried to understand what Mike was trying to say, but Mike's mom was in a hurry and wanted to go. She told Mike to stop bothering the doctor and go with her.

A few months later, Mike and his mom returned for their appointment. They were both adjusted and as they were leaving, Mike asked "Can you help being to old to play?" The doctor, still not knowing what Mike really meant, said "Sure - I can help that!" Mike was very happy and went home with his mom. Later that day, Mike's mom called the chiropractic office and asked if they could have an appointment for the next day, because Mike was insisting that the doctor said he could. The doctor thought this was rather odd because Mike only gets adjustments every few months and didn't remember anything about any other appointments, but honored the appointment anyway.

The next day, Mike arrived right on time, hand in hand with an elderly lady and his mom. He walked right up to the sign in desk and, like a perfect little gentleman, introduced the elderly lady as "that's my grammy!" Looking straight at the doctor, Mike said, "You promised you can make her be able to play again". He turned to his Grammy and, with a tear in his eye, said "Whenever I want to play with Grammy, she says she is to old to play anymore." Grammy started to cry, which led to wet eyes on everyone in the clinic.

The doctor took Grammy by the hand and promised Mike he would do the very best he could for Grammy. But then Mike did it again. He took off the backpack he was wearing and took out his piggy bank asking "How much to make grammy better like mommie?"

It is hard to realize how the wisdom of the ages comes from a, five year old, child. How precious is family? What greater values are there than those that emanate from a good family background? What would you give to be able to go back and spend just a few more minutes with your departed family members? Would you be willing to sacrifice your piggy bank?”
